The above song, "Rue St. Vincent" by the ever-dreamy Yves Montand, is one of the first French songs I remember falling in love with. I heard it in the movie "Rushmore" and now that I live near that very street, I hum the tune to myself whenever I see the street sign. There's something about the changes in Montand's voice, from humor to tenderness, that exactly matches the way Paris feels on a rainy day... which I felt even before I'd ever stepped on French soil.
If French music makes you feel like this too, you will love the "Paris En Chansons" exhibit going on right now. Head over to Girls' Guide To Paris to check out the article I wrote about it with photos from the exhibition.
